Hi. I'm RosyMidnight, and I'm an Omegaverse writer. I also write other things, but I generally prefer to keep my SFW and NSFW works separate, so unless you know me personally, I won't link to any of my SFW stuff here. I primarily use she/they pronouns, by the way.
Needless to say that this site will contain NSFW topics of a sexual nature. Please only look around if you're 18 or older (or otherwise of legal age of majority in your place of residence).
When I write an Omegaverse work, I tend to include the following tropes. Most of these are just background details, since I primarily like to focus on the erotic aspects when I write in this genre, but they do exist, and maybe I'll explore them in the text one day.
Gender has three facets in-universe: assigned gender at birth (male/female/intersex), rank presentation (Allpha/Beta/Omega), and gender presentation (whatever you deem best for yourself). Gender-affirming healthcare is widely available to assist with gender presentation, but there is currently no known way to change a person's rank presentantion, and it is generally deemed permanent.
A person's rank starts to present itself around the ages of 16-18. Any earlier than 15 or older than 21 is considered abnormal and worrying.
Omegas go into heat on average four times a year without suppressants; same with Alpha ruts. Both last anywhere from 3 days to a week, depending on if one's needs are met.
Instead of dealing with heat/rut, Betas have a menstrual cycle that comes once a month. All Betas go through this process, no matter what their assigned gender at birth is. If no vagina is present on the body, then instead of the monthly bleeding, the main physical symptom is an intense headache that feels like it's coming from the center of the skull. Every symptom aside from those two can manifest in all Betas (i.e. food cravings, mood swings, muscle aches, to name a few).
An Omega's heat can trigger an Alpha's rut, but not vice versa. If an Omega's pheromones are strong enough, it can even overcome Alpha rut suppressors.
Heat and rut suppressors are easy to get with a prescription. You can buy scent blockers without a prescription in the form of creams or patches, but pill scent blockers have to be prescribed.
if an Omega goes into heat or an Alpha goes into rut, most workplaces have paid leave for the affected employee. Workplaces that don't are generally frowned upon.
The approximate ratio of Alphas to Betas to Omegas is around 25% - 50% - 25%, respectively.
